Last week, after a disruptive mob of women drowned out debate on Senate Bill 5, preventing its’ passage, Gov. Rick Perry called a second special legislative session to once again consider the regulation of abortion procedures, providers and facilities in Texas. SB 5, had it passed, would have protected unborn children who reached 20 weeks’ gestation, required abortion clinics to meet the standards of other ambulatory surgery centers and would have required doctors to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. That second special legislative session convenes today, and a new bill could be heard as early as tomorrow.
Anti-life groups have vowed to be at the capitol building again this time. But so have pro-life Texans from across the state. If you want to join your fellow Texans in standing up for life, please go to the Texas Alliance for Life website for more information. And no matter where you live, please join the countless people who are praying for the safety and protection of women and children by the passage of this pro-life bill.
