Late last night Doug Pearson passed away, after a valiant battle with esophageal cancer. Many of you knew Doug through Catholic radio; he served the Guadalupe Radio Network in Dallas faithfully for many years. Faithful is the best word to describe him: he was a faithful husband to Tricia, a faithful father to his nine children, a faithful grandfather to his ten grandchildren, and a faithful friend to many. Most importantly, Doug was a faithful friend to Our Lord and His Church, and it was this love that was the wellspring of all his other relationships.
Many of you followed his journey of battling cancer through his blog, and his prayer was always to embrace God’s Will, even when it meant the Cross. His surrender to Our Lord, his union with Christ on the Cross, was a beautiful, though difficult, message to each of us about hope, trust, love and surrender. Please pray for the repose of Doug’s soul, and for the comfort and consolation of his beautiful family.
May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs come to welcome you and take you to the holy city Jerusalem. May choirs of angels receive you and lead you to where Lazarus is poor no longer, may you have eternal rest.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
